Website promotion has become much easier since the advent of social media site. Social media sites, also referred to as Web 2.0 site, allows people to exchange comments, pictures, documents, and other interesting items instantaneously. These social media sites include:

- Blogging sites such as Twitter, Blogger, Wordpress, and Typepad;
- Topic specific bulletin board forums;
- Social bookmarking sites such as Delicious, Stumbleupon, Digg, Redit, and Newsvine.
Promoting your site from these social networking avenues can bring highly targeted traffic to your site. You shouldn’t rely solely on social media as your promotion tools though. You’ll find the the demographics visiting your site will tend to be the same. But this is a great place to start because it is free to join and you’ll begin to bring in traffic from day one.
