Writing good content is an important SEO factor
It is a proven fact that Google places a heavy emphasis on good unique content writing. Most of the top twenty site for any given keyword have really good content. These are the common traits for high placement amongst the search engine results page (S.E.R.P.).
- All of your content should be unique. Do not copy or steal content from another site. If you find another page that really conveys your point of view, save it to your hard drive. Then go in and take out the key points you want to emphasize and then paraphrase using your own writing style.
- All of your content should be new. This doesn’t mean not keep your archived pages around. Simply, keep posting on a regular basis; every two to three days at a minimum. And it is ok to go back and edit your old archived articles. In fact I recommend going back and including inline text links to your newer articles. The older articles will bring in regular traffic and inbound links, and the inline text links to your newer articles will help your new visitors find relevant content.
- Good grammar and article structure is consistently rewarded. If you are an SEO guru and writing isn’t your specialty, it is very important to have a seasoned editor or writer read your work before posting. Firstly, if your readers come to a poorly written article, they will click the back button. Your average bounce rate will be in %60 or higher and the average time spent on each page will be under 20 seconds. Second, you better believe that all the major search engines and scan your page for basic grammar and structure problems.
- The majority of high performing pages in the S.E.R.P. have a key word density of %3 – %5. Going lower than this may dilute your content. Going over may be considered keyword stuffing or at the least, make your article unpleasant to read. If you lower or higher than this amount, consider using synonyms to help the relevancy of you page.
If you follow these simple tips, not only will you have a jump on your competition in the S.E.R.P., but your bounce rate will be lower and your conversions rate will be higher.
